Building Practitioner Mentoring Program
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The objective of this program is to provide learners with a comprehensive grasp of the practical aspects involved in building and construction projects. It aims to enhance their technical skills and knowledge by engaging them in hands-on experiences within a building project.
This program effectively bridges the gap between theoretical learning and the actual implementation of building projects on real job sites. It achieves this through a combination of theoretical instruction, practical coursework, and the utilization of templates.
The program covers various essential topics, including:
- Planning and managing building and construction projects.
- Reading and interpreting plans.
- Implementing project-specific procedures.
- Implementing strategies to minimize waste on site.
- Estimating costs for materials and labour.
- Creating accurate quotes for project structures.
- Understanding contractual obligations.

𝐘𝐞𝐬. Our Student Support Team will guide you through the process by providing a list of requirements and information you need to prepare for your builder’s licence application support. While we do not issue licences ourselves, we will support you with the necessary documentation and advice to assist with your application.
Students are assessed using a combination of methods designed to reflect real workplace skills and knowledge. These may include:
𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – to check your understanding of key concepts and prepare you for licence registration requirements.
𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬/𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 – to demonstrate your ability to apply skills in real or simulated workplace situations.
𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐢𝐟 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞) – such as reports, documents, or supervisor confirmations.
This blended approach ensures you are well-prepared for both the qualification and future licence registration.
𝐘𝐞𝐬. This course is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to meet part of the requirements for a builder licence. Completing the Diploma of Building and Construction is one of the mandatory steps set by the licensing authority.

You will also need to meet the experience requirements set by your state or territory licensing body.
Some licensing authorities may require you to attend an interview or additional assessment.
